Nidaros Cathedral

Trondheim, Norway

"The oldest part of Nidaros Cathedral dates from 1320 and was built over the grave of Olav
the Holy, who, in the 11th century converted Norway to Christianity and in doing so made
many enemies. There were battles, wins and losses. After his death, he was declared a
saint and was eventually buried in what would become this massive cathedral. His shrine
has become a place of pilgrimage.

"I was just impressed with the Norman, Romanesque and Gothic architecture!" --Susan
