Getting away

Zayante Creek, Mount Hermon, California

Decades ago, my parents would drive us four kids about 8 hours nearly every summer to get
to this family camp in the hills. Mom and I, now living nearby the camp, came in the
afternoon for an evening concert. The last time I was here to see that performance group
was also the last time Dad was there before he died. And the last time I was here, I was
in love, and I lost that love, too. So my heart ached deeply in being here again. I made
my way down to this spot at the bottom of the chasm nearby the camp, a place reminding me
of past rest and peace.
